I am taking a course in Coursera. It is called Learn to Program: The Fundamentals, and it uses Python. The teachers from University of Toronto have put together a really interesting course, using video lectures (all under 15 mins), exercises and assignments. What I find particularly refreshing is the combination of passion that the teachers convey (in their geeky way ;) and the seriousness of the thousands of students taking the course. We take this seriously, while having fun. Perhaps my expectations were low; nevertheless I am surprised. I would call these Coursera-courses the educational equivalent of app-economy. The course elements are bite-sized but not frivolous, easily accessible but they still require that you study, think and do. I’m kinda hooked, and I’ve already signed up for two more courses…
